ZINZILE SEEPIE is an urban enthusiast. She loves cities – "the clean ones, the dirty ones, the old ones, the new ones". Zinzile influences urban development through policy formulation, local area precinct plans and development frameworks. She has a post-graduate Diploma from Erasmus University-Magna Cum Laude (Rotterdam) specialised in Urban Housing and Livelihood Strategies. As an Urban Planner interested in creating liveable urban environments through neighbourhood and precinct development, Zinzile’s areas of influence include spatial programming and project management, Urban design, policy development & research as well as development planning and facilitation

PETER MAGNI

PETER MAGNI

Peter Magni is a town planning consultant who writes policy, reports and general interest material on urban infrastructure, spatial planning, sustainability and resource management. He is also a programme facilitator. He previously worked as a Programme Manager and researcher for the South African Cities Network, a non-governmental organisation. In addition, he has ten years’ experience at the City of Johannesburg as a town planner responsible for regional spatial plans and for coordinating the capital budget for the City. Prior to this he worked for the National Department of Human Settlements. Peter holds a Masters of Town and Regional Planning from the University of Natal and a Master of Philosophy in Infrastructure Management and Design from the University of Cape Town.

NOSIPHO GOBA

NOSIPHO GOBA

Nosipho Goba is an LLD candidate focusing on Constitutional Law and Philosophy of Law at the UFS. She holds the LLB (UP) and LLM (UP) degrees. Nosipho’s work draws on Black Consciousness and decolonial intellectual traditions in the legal academy as well as recent developments in critical race spatial theory, feminist theory, queer theory and social and legal geography. Her project examines the confluence of law and space by exploring the legacy of harm of colonial and apartheid spatial planning and social and structural bias based on race and poverty in the spatial expression of South African life. Her research has explored how the practical impacts of human rights are imbricated with topics of philosophy, indigeneity, law, economics and history.

Tshepang obtained a BHonours in Town and Regional Planning at the University of Pretoria in 2019. Her passion lies in creating sustainable communities where individuals have access to facilities that enable them to thrive and be the best that they can be. She also has strong background in real estate and keen interest in property development.

Fanisa Mthombeni

Fanisa Mthombeni studied Town and Regional Planning at the University of Pretoria, and has worked in central government. She has experience in research, land use management, policy development, as well as an active interest in WASH (Water and Sanitation Health) Systems Strengthening.

Tsholofelo Motlogeloa

Tsholofelo Motlogeloa

Tsholofelo Motlogeloa holds a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning from UFS, Postgraduate Diploma in Public and Non-Profit Management (Specialising in Disaster Risk Studies) from NWU and a Bachelors in Management Leadership from the UFS Business School. He worked as a Sport Administration facilitator at Motheo Tvet College and recently worked as a Housing and Human Settlement responsible for Housing Systems and Strategic Initiatives at Habitat for Humanity, Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA). In 2015 he participated in the South African Norway Research Co-operation (Climate Change & Beliefs Project) as an assistant researcher. Tsholofelo is a community activist and a convener of Thaba Nchu Youth Parliament and Sheshe Memorial Soccer Tournament. He lists the following as his interests: Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change Adaptation, Urban Risk, Management and Leadership, Community Development and Sport.

Matome Sekwatlakwatla is a realist and pragmatist. In his young Professional Career, he is firmly guided by Socio-spatial principles of Henry Lefevre- which emphasize the Social Production of space and the Right to the City. As such, he is a believer that communities must be responsible and for decisions that directly and indirectly affect their lives. Matome is a Qualified Town Planner with a BSc. Hons in Urban and Regional Planning, and a MSc. Development Planning. Throughout his academic and professional journey, he has undertaken studies which focused on bettering the lives of the most vulnerable through Local Economic Development and Community Development. He is inspired by theories around Collaborative democracy, Consensus Building, Community Participation and Stakeholder engagement.
